A MUST WATCH

Take note of Hillary's excuse starting at 2:10.

A mother's heart bleeds. This is not about politics. CNN's Jake Tapper interviews Pat Smith, whose son Sean Smith, a State Department information officer, was one of four Americans killed in the attack on Benghazi.

'I'm doing terribly. I cry every night. I don't sleep at night. I want answers and no one at the White House will talk to me. I got one call from a clerk. That's it.'

White House struggles to respond to new Benghazi revelations

The White House on Wednesday stood by its story that the Obama administration remained unsure exactly who was responsible for the attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi nearly five days after it occurred even though new revelations show Ansar al-Sharia’s direct involvement. Gregory Hicks, the deputy chief of mission testified that a Libyan official eventually called him that night to inform him Mr. Stevens had died and that his body was at a hospital run by Ansar al-Sharia.

Mr. Hicks said it was the saddest phone call of his life.

Terrorists set fire to the diplomatic compound to force Mr. Stevens and his staff out of a safe house inside. It was a petroleum fire, which produces deadly cyanide gas.

BENGHAZI WHISTLEBLOWERS TESTIFY

Witnesses Finally Allowed To Speak

Issa said he expects this week to find someone from Clinton's circle - if not the former secretary of state herself - at the heart of the cover-up.

"If Hillary Clinton is not responsible for the before, during and after mistakes, it's somebody close. There are plenty of people close to the former secretary who knew, and apparently were part of the problem."

Those close to Clinton who may have engaged in "deliberately, premeditated lying to the American people," Issa said, could include Under Secretary Patrick Kennedy or Beth Jones.

Hicks said one day after Susan Rice's media blitz, he called Beth Jones to ask about the source for the ambassador's statements; the tone of her answer indicated that "I perhaps asked a question that I should not have asked."

MEDIA BIAS 101

The biggest Benghazi-related story that took place outside of the House Oversight Committee's hearing room today is this item in Politico, regarding CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkisson.  She's the reporter who famously drew White House officials' profane ire over her unapologetic pursuit of the Fast & Furious scandal story; now she's apparently facing searing criticism from another source: Her own bosses.  Why?  Because she's been covering the Benghazi story too aggressively.
