Video - Egyptian people celebrate victory - Feb. 11, 2011

The question now, of course, is what happens next?  Mubarak's VP is the official replacement, but where is the Egyptian Army on any of this?  It's possible that the Army brass has different views from the enlisted men and junior officers.  Just listening to the latest reports on NPR radio just now (c. 12:30 ET), it appears that the protesters are NOT going to back down in the face of any moves by the Army to quash to demonstrations.  At least the opposition leader being interviewed said that they were "not afraid," that there were too many people for the army to shoot, and that if they planned on shooting people they would have done it already.  Clearly the protesters -- the people -- feel they have the upper hand.  They could be right.

Swiss freeze possible Mubarak assets

ZURICH (Reuters) – Switzerland has frozen assets possibly belonging to Hosni Mubarak, who stepped down as president of Egypt Friday after 30 years of rule, a spokesman for the foreign ministry said.

"I can confirm that Switzerland has frozen possible assets of the former Egyptian president with immediate effect," spokesman Lars Knuchel said, declining to specify how much money was involved.
