The Daily Bail was launched on January 15th of 2009.  There was no fanfare, no PR blitz, not even a press release.  I just started posting pictures of the failed, over-leveraged and irresponsible, and writing stories.  Patrick.net was the first blogger to notice us and decide to help.  For the first 8 weeks, he would occasionally include one of our stories in his daily links.  Those links helped drive traffic and introduce our anti-bailout cause.  If you are interested, you may take a look at one particular story that drove the most traffic our way in those first 8 weeks.  It is an extremely profane bailout rant from a stock trader in North Carolina.  His rant went viral and tens of thousands came here to see it.

By the beginning of April, we were no longer unknown.  CNN writer Jessica Ravitz (thank you!) mentioned us first in a print story on recession websites.  The editors of RecessionWire (thanks Sara, Lynn and Laura) put us in their particular top 10.  Eric Etheridge of The New York Times profiled one of our editorials on Elizabeth Warren.  Oh yeah, and there was that little Playboy Magazine controversy as well.  I awoke one Saturday morning to find I had been labeled a right-wing astroturf site.  Nice research, Playboy writers.

In May I took a vacation for the first 10 days as the stress was taking its toll.  Yet May was another record month, as our unique visitors grew to 85,000 plus 20,000 or so in unique monthly RSS feed readers.  Our RSS numbers are not included in any of the 'traffic details' below.

And now 5 short days into June, our traffic continues to grow.  More and more readers have been emailing our stories to their friends and helping to spread our anti-bailout message.

Monthly traffic numbers.  Note: we also have complete traffic numbers from google analytics, but those numbers are actually slightly higher than the numbers shown here.  I chose caution and am showing our more conservative traffic figures.  Does not include approximately 20,000 monthly RSS readers.

Daily traffic numbers since May 31 through 10 AM this morning.  Today's numbers are already several thousand higher.  Though it is difficult to extrapolate, we are on our way to 500k page views for June.  All we can say is WOW!

So, again, we say thanks to Patrick, CNN, RecessionWire, and hundreds of other publishers for supporting our crusade.  But mostly we say thanks to you, our readers.  We could not exist without you.
