Bernanke Vote: The Good, the Bad and the Disappeared (list – 38 Senators are COMPLETELY AWOL!)

Young Ben Bernanke and his wife

By Mark McHugh

---

The Real Time Economics  blog at the Wall Street Journal, headed by Phil Izzo and Sudeep Reddy has produced the most complete tally of the state of the Ben Bernanke Senate confirmation vote I have seen.  So I’m stealing it.  The complete article can be found here.

The most shocking aspect of the upcoming Bernanke Confirmation vote is that 38 US Senators have thusfar refused to divulge their intentions In addition, 20 Senators have declared themselves undecided

Ben Bernanke’s job description is four sentences long.  He ignored his marching orders and the entire financial system essentially collapsed because of his incompetance.  The titans of Wall Street have become the beneficiaries of the biggest welfare scheme ever conceived and Ben Bernanke has become the architect of what can only be described as the ”generational rape” of America.  Of course the banksters love him.

They also have a very good Q & A with Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley.  Merkley was the only Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee to oppose the Bernanke confirmation.  Merkley displays the kind of clear-headed thinking that has become so rare in Washington.  It is also noteworthy to mention that Merkley’s “No” vote seems independant of the so-called populist outrage striking fear in the hearts of many of his colleauges.  He does not face re-election until 2014.

Merkley defeated Republican incumbent Gordon H. Smith in 2008 despite raising less than half of his opponent in campaign contributions.  Again, that Q & A can be found here.

Now for the data I stole:

How odd that Richard Blum's wife is noncommittal on a question that affects investment bankers.

Thank you, DB & SNK!

I feel like I really stumbled out of the gate here. The fact that 58 out of 100 Senators are afraid to be held accountable to the people who voted them in speaks volumes about our leadership. If the Senate can't think clearly on simple issues, why on Earth should we trust them with complex issues like Healthcare reform?

As far as I'm concerned, the twenty decidely undecideds, and the 38 AWOLS might as well pack up and go home now. Everyone despises cowards.

You really ought to be a little less apologetic about that fabulous, irreproachable rage, you know? ;)
