The largest physical check ever written.

A few weeks prior to TARP, Goldman Sachs went to Warren Buffett for $10 billion and Morgan Stanley found a bailout partner in Mitsubishi.

Morgan Stanley received a $9 billion investment from Mitsubishi UFJ in the fall of 2008 that kept the firm from collapsing.  The payment was supposed to be wired electronically, but because it needed to be made on an emergency basis on a holiday, Mitsubishi cut a physical check, perhaps the largest ever written.

That's $9,000,000,000.

(Reuters) - Consumer prices barely rose in November as inflation remains muted amid an anemic recovery, more ammunition for the Federal Reserve to complete its government bond buying program to stimulate the economy.

The Labor Department said Wednesday its Consumer Price Index nudged up 0.1 percent as energy prices rose by the smallest in five months, slowing from a 0.2 percent increase in October.

Mitsubishi's 9 billion is chump change compared to the booty they still have from the 12 nations they looted in WWII.
