What's tragic is that there really are dumbfuck mouthbreathing Fox News viewers who sincerely believe that snow in Vegas actually disproves Global Warming. It's bad enough that the Steve Dooceys of this world really think that local seasonal weather anomalies somehow disprove exhaustively studied, scientifically established global warming trends, but when the fuck did precipitation become synonymous to temperature?

i was in the 5th grade when in 1976 when the 'next ice age' push began...they taught it to us in school as though it were dogma...that's my whole point with global warming/climate change stories...that no one knows...and that includes the scientists...and most of them are so political these days they have forgotten about scrutiny and science...

"watch this one polish..."

Very good. Not really news (might makes right, The [Real] Golden Rule, etc.), yet, tragically enough, lost on the vast majority of the peoples.

Hazy anecdotal recollections, blanket and irrelevant accusations, and attempts to change the subject (e.g., Carbon Credits and "new messiah") do not constitute a...er...scientific method of refuting an overwhelming preponderance of empirical, testable evidence.

I can't prove beyond any doubt that a Flying Spaghetti Monster did not individually craft humans and other species on earth, but until someone does, I'm sticking with Evolution.

polish...i'm not trying to prove anything with links...the point of my story was that the same hype that surrounds global warming now surrounded 'the coming ice age' 35 years ago...both agendas were pushed by the same crowd...and i'm suspicious...i don't claim to know the truth...but i think the scientific community doesn't know the truth either...

Hazy anecdotal recollections

---

they might be hazy in your head but i remember them clearly...i became a 5th grade enviro-nazi overnight...i had trouble sleeping...i dreamed about growing ice fields moving down into southern indiana...you tell 5th graders that ice will soon cover everything, and you're going to get a reaction from some of them...

as part of the energy conservation movement/message that was co-mingled with the 'coming ice age' hype, i wouldn't let my parents keep the xmas lights on outside that first year...i removed them with my brother...and i was constantly unplugging the xmas tree lights inside the house...plus i kept a list of who was leaving normal lights on in the house when they left rooms, etc...as i said, i fell for it once...i'm not falling so easily this time...

Humans are negatively affecting every environment on the planet. I have seen enough in my lifetime to realize that it is probably way to late to change the results of our irresponsible rape of the earth. Human convenience, human greed, the lust for power and the ability to deny the obvious is destroying the environment and many of the living species of plants and animals. It is poetic justice that we will probably destroy ourselves too if we don't change the way we do things.

@sagebrush, I have experience with renewables. It's the bankers and charlatans that'll do it first.

@John, What if first we get rid of the lobbyists and force political candidates to use public campaign financing? Enact the transparency Obama promised then rolled over on. (As he did most of his campaign promises.) The corrupt politicians would lose their umbilical cord to the elite and when transparency shows how corrupt most of them are, we could put them in jail or in the unemployment line. Then maybe an honest justice system would go after the criminals on Wall Street, put most of them in prison and confiscate the trillions they've stolen from people all over the planet.

Use some of those trillions for R&D and to back viable renewables. Build plants hire a lot of people and compete with the world instead of destroying it.

Of course if this is going to happen the middle class has to get involved in reality instead of the fantasy the Government and the MSM are pushing. Quit voting the crooks into Congress every election and demand changes, instead of ducking their heads in the sand and hoping the next s**itstorm passes them by.
