My dad had back surgery this morning so I've been away from the site most of the day. He's resting and fine now. They removed a cyst from behind his spinal cord and narrowed out the spinal bone at 2 different spots on his vertebrae in order to relieve pressure on nerves that were causing his legs to go numb. He is 79 and exercises every day, and we golfed yesterday so he can handle the pain, but when he would stand still his legs would go numb and he would occasionally fall over from paralysis. Hopefully, that was fixed today.

Thanks john, spinal surgery is always a bit hairy but he should be fine. I golfed Saturday, Sunday and Monday so I have no complaints. It was nice to be out there for 4 hours with no cars, no computers, nothing. I shot 73 yesterday, 2 over par on a 6,600 yard tract. I should be shooting under par but I'm out of form. I turned 50 this year so for fun I had planned to attempt to qualify for the US. Senior Open in July but I have my doubts now. Depends how much practice I can get in the next month. It's a 1-day qualifier at the Brickyard course in Indy, where 5 of the holes are actually inside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It's a tough course and it will probably take 4-under par or better to make it out of the qualifier.

Isn't it too late for a third-party candidate to get on the presidential ticket?

I remember Ratigan hoping that Michael Bloomberg [gag] would enter the race and being disappointed when that didn't happen--as if the deadline had passed.

So I checked ballotpedia, which says:

"Generally speaking, an independent presidential candidate must petition for placement on the general election ballot in all 50 states, as well as Washington, D.C."

The webpage there has a table of all the states and their respective deadlines. A sort on the filing deadline reveals that the Texas deadline came and went on 5/9/16.

We visited some of these hot beds of horseshittery with my daughter. It was God awful. Shame of it is, most of these private liberal arts colleges were former theological schools where the center of the old campus was the church. The commies got into these places and ruined them even for themselves at this point.
