Mobilize.Org And The Peterson Foundation -- Democracy 2.0 Summit
We're here in Chicago to participate and cover the 3-day event. Our thanks to Mobilize CEO Maya Enista for her help in securing our attendance. Former Comptroller General of the United States and current President of the Peterson Foundation, David Walker kicks off the event tomorrow morning with the keynote address, and we hope to get him on camera afterwards.
An event schedule is available here, where you can watch a live webcast of Walker's speech at 9:15 AM Wednesday morning.
PLEASE email, facebook, re-tweet, share and take our stories with you when you leave. Our only weapon against the madness is GREATER AWARENESS. Thank you.

It’s the deficits, stupid. Reducing the deficit is his top priority. Foreign debt may crush us. This will require a change in culture and increased saving asap (too short-term oriented).
The economy is in a unique situation.
Founder and Chairman of Council on Foreign Relations.
Thinks Tim Geithner is “one hell of a guy.” He chaired the NY Fed that picked Geithner.
Supports private public partnership (public invests/Treasury and Fed leverages).
Really respects David Rockefeller.
For Massive Healthcare Reform (against Obama government takeover but for universal healthcare???)
Against gold plated health insurance plans.
Against Tax Cuts (not even for job stimulus). Government needs more revenues from middle and upper classes.
Against wage and price controls.
High on China (China is investing domestically). U.S. stimulus should have been in infrastructure.
Obama Economic Policy (Obama had no choice to continue bailout).
Commission to reform budget processes (spending caps/paygo), reform tax (increase savings/increase taxes), and reform entitlements (and benefits). Believes that Obama should or will set up these bipartisan commissions.
Wants Obama to force Americans to make sacrifices.
Educate average Americans (advertise to motivate the people to be politically active).
American Association of Young People (thinks Obama youth movement was a good start).
What would you do? With your standards, no one would pass and the website would be empty...
You know my big beef with a Peter Peterson, he has not taken a strong stand against Obama and the Obama agenda (social Marxism). He still sees, from what I could find, a lot of promise in Obama. That is foolish. The cultural change Obama wants might be much different from the cultural change Peterson wants, I don’t know. This is not time to be vague and this is no time to be dithering (yes, the current buzzword) on who you support and who you need to defeat.
“We have real enemies in the world. These enemies must be found. They must be pursued and they must be defeated.” Barack Obama
“All warfare is based on deception.” Sun Tzu
Nov 22nd "END THE FED" Protest

DB--Who are the participants? Are they mostly college students, poly sci or economics/business majors?
Have you ever read the book The Wave? You should.
You should be very careful before you join any movement, especially one that is trying to appeal to the youth. I find it very troubling that both Obama and Peter Peterson are both very focused on changing our culture. Ask David Walker what does Peterson mean about a change in culture, is it just about our spending habits or does it go deeper. The New York Times has just figured out that Geithner fleeced America with the AIG bailouts. DB, how long have we known that? How many times has Janet told us that is a big deal? Now the NY Fed is coping to the lesser charge so that the bigger bomb doesn’t drop on how much of that money went to Goldman and worse, to foreign banks and investors.
For all those young kids that thought Obama was going to be the first black President but had no idea if or what he stood for except change, they do need to be educated.
I still don't understand how having a white mother and being raised in the private school system of Hawaii by your white grandparents makes you black. It shows that skin color still matters to a lot of people. I say again, if his mother was Japanese or Korean or Indian or native Hawaiian, would he still be the first black President? Obama didn’t exactly grow up on the mean streets of Philly. Combine that with what we know about Obama (his radical friends and questionable faith) and what we don’t know (his past, his grades at Columbia and Harvard, his origins, his core beliefs (to a large extent)) and you get what we have now, a fraud.
Obama is playing three card monte, Chicago style. He is pliable and the real power behind his rise from obscurity is that they just need to feed his ego and he will do their bidding.
I thought you of all people would not ignore the obvious to feel a part of some movement. The movement is a huge shift to the right (founding father principles not Nancy Pelosi principles), you are not ready for that but that is what is on the horizon.
Well, you should be honest with your readers about what has drawn you in to the Peterson movement and honest with yourself. I am still just trying to gather the facts but if you check out the Peterson website, you will see very few facts and very soft positions. If they can’t determine whether they support Obama or not, they are not worth your time. Yes, I am your toughest critic. Your welcome.

But what you're missing Gobias is that they don't support political candidates...they exist for one single reason...to raise awareness on debt and deficit issues...nothing else...
You seem to think that Obama is some sort of litmus test but he's not...neither are any of our past presidents...the group exists beyond partisanship...their political agenda has only to do with debt and deficit awarenes...
-----------
Trust me I understand that to you, there are no issues beyond Obama...you have made it your life's work to expose the guy...that's fine..
Almost exclusively college students....to be honest, many of the folks here have no clue what's happening to their futures...they are involved, but not focused on debt and deficit issues...Rome is burning and yet it can still be difficult to wake up young people...strong networking opportunities...
----------------
Just to be clear that I answered this Q...as you should know by now, it's the debt and deficits...nothing more, nothing less...
Dan Quayle
Absolutely. Ditto with Bush. No big change, really.
But why, Gobias, do you keep insinuating that DB is in denial about Banks Obama? That's ridiculous. To make this site all Obama all the time would be tactically and strategically stupid. It would also help, if you want to be constructive, to be less cryptic. It's just noise at this point. I don't even know why I'm wasting my time writing this. I usually just ignore the "DB loves Obama" stuff.
Yes, B.H. Obama
Banks Obama sounds like a nickname for someone you like.
It reminds me of a bad baseball nickname. It doesn't even sound negative.
He needs a mafia nickname like this one of these...
Mario Conti aka "Mary the prison Bitch"
Eduardo Lombardi aka "Eddie the Retard"
Francesco Moretti aka "Frankie the Twat"
When the former Republican vice presidential candidate and former Alaska governor wrote her autobiography, the AP found a copy before its release date and assigned 11 people to fact check all 432 pages.
BUT, not a single reporter will ask Barry Soetoro for his birth certificate and proof of citizenship.
College records? NO
Health records? NO, sorry.
Who he dated before Michelle? Not even TMZ.
The accuracy of his books? No, how boring.
Okay...it is safe now James...

Though I respect your opinion I couldn't disagree more...the best nicknames don't immediately give away the thinking behind them...Banks Obama is catchy and makes people think...I think it works, but then I coined it so I'm biased...and I have no idea how you think it could be a positive...

I caught this story earlier today on Drudge...i agree that it shows bias...no argument...however, as i've stated since the beginning, discussing the validity of Obama's Presidency is a waste of time...it's a losing issue politically for us...not sure why you would expect me to cover it...it's pretty freaking far from our purview...
IF any journalist is going to cover it, it shoudl be a political journalist...we are a site focused on specific issues...politics are not within our purview...I know you don't agree with this but I;ve made my point many times...we would lose all credibility if we became a partisan site and it would make no sense because our issues are non-partisan...
James, this one is for you...
If you've got them by the balls their hearts and minds will follow.
John Wayne
Obama can genuflect all he wants, but my heart and mind will NEVER kowtow to our Chinese creditors.
SPIEGEL ONLINE: In other words, you think the fault lies with the management of GM?
Schild: The problem has to do with the structures and the fundamental course charted by the bankrupt giant GM. The flow of information from one level of the hierarchy to the next reminds one of socialism, in which successes were claimed even as failure was evident to all.
HMMMMMMMMM, I wonder why? James, did you raise your hand? Go ahead, what is the reason...
