OCCUPY GEORGE - Protesters Stamp Inequality Graphics On Dollar Bills (PHOTOS)

Source Huffington Post

Instead of broadcasting their views on a sign, Facebook group or Twitter, some supporters of the Occupy Wall Street protests are illustrating their frustrations on dollar bills.

The group, calling itself Occupy George, is circulating dollar bills featuring infographics with facts about income inequality. One graphic includes a dotted line drawn through George Washington’s face with the words “Richest 400 Americans” on one side and “Bottom 150,000,000 Americans” on the other, indicating that the top 400 earners in America make as much as the bottom 150,000,000.

In actuality, the disparity in incomes may even be worse than the graphic let on: The total net worth of the bottom 60 percent of Americans is less than that of Forbes 400 richest Americans.

Another dollar bill drawing features pie charts illustrating the income growth disparity in the 1920s, 1960s and 2000s. The picture indicates the gap is wider now than it was during the Great Depression. The top one percent of earners netted two-thirds of the nation's income gains from 2002 to 2007, which put income concentration at the highest level since 1928, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

The U.S. median income declined 7 percent in the last decade and though economists predict incomes will rise in the next 10 years it won’t be enough to get incomes back to pre-recession levels, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The goal of Occupy George is to inform “the public of America’s daunting economic disparity one bill at a time.”

Here are a few more dollar bill infographics from Occupy George:

Trying to save the economy one American at a time: Barack Obama has admitted he sometimes writes personal cheques to struggling Americans

The US President told White House correspondent Eli Saslow that sometimes he felt drawing on his own bank account was all he could do for Americans struggling to pay their bills in the embattled American economy.

The revelation is made in Mr Saslow's new book "Ten Letters", about Mr Obama's correspondence with the American public.

THIS IS BRILLIANT! I love it. I want to support these guys.

Just spent the day at Monticello yesterday, where a painting of Francis Bacon reminded me of a very important idea

"Knowledge is power."

While I am sure that the recipients of President Obama's generous charity are thankful for the hand-out and that the hand-out is desperately needed, we would all be better off if he would just authorize his Justice Department to prosecute the financial criminals that caused this desperate need in the first place. Of course, the Justice Department is not supposed to need authorization from the president to prosecute - they are required to prosecute where ever they find federal laws have been broken, but we all know it doesn't really work that way. So, Mr. President, get out of the way of justice. Oh, that's right - he recently said the banksters didn't violate any laws. Guess he will just have to continue digging into his personal bank account. Maybe he can be persuaded to send 99% of the country enough in charity so that people can start feeding their families again without the assistance of food stamps and resume buying useless crap produced by slave labor in third-world countries.

Oh yah, I'm pissed. I hope his miserable donations help salve his guilty conscience. And no, he should not advertise that he has done this. True charity remains anonymous and Unadvertised.

Very well said Miss Daisy.

And ETM,,,on your visit to Monticello, lucky you. When I was an undergrad at UVa, a friend and I used to ride our bikes up to Monticello every Saturday in the fall and spring. It was about 30 miles round trip, all uphill on the way there and all downhill on the way home. It is an amazing place.

The pie chart on the dollar bill is quite revealing. It's the same income distribution as in the 1920's, right before the big CRASH and the Great Depression! History repeats itself!

In Cuba there is no Wall street and few if any corporations. They are communist although when Castro taking over, no one knew he was commie.
Now everyone is EQUAL and HAPPY ... the wage there is $1.00 day... only few more per day in socialist Phillipines.

Socialism: Equality and poverty
Capitalism: Inequality and prosperity... by comparison

Get rid of Wall street and corporations and private enterprise and make everyone equal.....has led to $1.00/day for people in Cuba... What are these "occupy" protests about?? Occupy your mind to forget Obama's $14 trillion debt that is impossible to service.

Sounds like the Cedar Revolution etc.
Why not go with something substantive that would ACTUALLY change and challenge the system, instead of childish, futile pranks & stunts?

NO CREDIT CARD REPAYMENT for min of 90 days until indictments brought against the fiscal criminals. You want real power? 100% of that "99%" withholding funds would scream louder than an F16 and sear deeper than a lazer drone. BOYCOTT payments. That would do it.
