Police Find Gold Bars Worth $7.5M Hidden In Small Car

Border checkpoint finds gold.  HSBC had no comment.

'Just headed over to Switzerland for the afternoon.  Nothing to declare.'

No word if HSBC bankers were on scene to facilitate the money-laundering exchange.

Italian Border Police find one ton of gold bars hidden in the car of a family on a supposed Easter day trip to Switzerland.  Here's a wild guess: they were transporting the gold bars for the mafia who has taken over the gold business in Italy, as you will see in the report below.

---

Italy's growing gold business taken over by the mafia.

At 35 seconds in this clip, they mention that the gold is generally smuggled to Switzerland.

This article sounds like total BS. Unless something changed in the past 6 months or so, I don;t remember Italians checking anybody leaving the country. Who may check is the Swiss Border Patrol, but why would they? Another thing – 1 ton of gold hidden in a car. This car probably won't move if one adds passengers (family) to a ton of gold. Definitely would scratch the asphalt. Why is anyone who tries to run away from the crooks who openly rob people's accounts are portrayed either as tax evaders or mafia. I assume the reporter attended the court hearing and heard these people being convicted in mafia connections.

7 million dollars worth of gold at $1600 a troy ounce is only 300 pounds, the weight of a fat man. And it would not take up much room, as gold is very heavy. It would fit in a carry on luggage which one uses for plane travel. Of course you couldnt lift it. But if it were just laying in the trunk of the car, it wouldnt be taking up much room.

I would assume the weight was a guess by the reporter. And the driver probably showed some nerves which tipped off the police.

This staged video gives itself away in the manner that the "officials" handle the "gold" easily. Real gold weighs a lot and bars of this size, being quite massive, would take strenuous effort to handle. Note how effortlessly these bars are handled! This is a fake!!!

This is fake, the reporter does not say what currency the 7.5M dollars is in so you go by the mass she stated. One ton is equal to 1000kg or 2204 pounds (the average weight of a car is 4000 pounds) The car could not possibly cary that . That is not one fat man that is over 7 fat people. That much mass concentrated in one small area would either break through the tin of the car or it would scrape on the road. Then they present the gold bars on the ground, why would they display them like that then only to again pick up the bars to haul away (double handling a ton of anything is alot of work).

Crime becomes daily news of our life, but this is a highlighted crime. The entire gold find by police was hidden in a small car, it is interesting. Now people use cars in such activities. Gold theft is increasing gradually day to day due to its high cost. Such type of activities should be stooped, for it our administration takes valuable steps.

We live in modern era and did a multiple work at a time. Cameras are used everywhere for collect all the details in absence of the authority; it is in video form. In an advanced age peoples are use camera in their car. But it is not well distributed among all car owners. Due to more flexibility one car owner goes for it. By using it I think the car theft and accident will be reduced, all should be use camera in their car.
