VIDEO - Marine Scott Olsen Moments Before He Was Shot By The Oakland Police, Olsen Now In 'Critical' Condition

If the police claim that Scott Olsen attacked them, show them this clip.

Olsen remains in critical condition.  Officials at Highland Hospital in Oakland are refusing further comment at this time.  At first, Doctors told Olsen's friends that he was stable.  Now they're being told that his skull has been fractured and his brain is beginning to swell. Neurologists are in the process of determining whether or not he will require surgery.

According to Keith Shannon, a friend who served with Olsen in Iraq, Olsen was shot in the head with a tear gas or smoke canister, and he has the scar to prove it.  Police policy specifically prohibits the firing of these weapons at a person's head.

Meanwhile, Oakland police admit that they used tear gas and baton rounds, but have denied the use of flash bang grenades (even though this video shows conclusively that an officer lobbed a flash grenade into the crowd attending to Olsen).

Olsen hails from Wisconsin, served tours of Iraq in 2006 and 2007, and is active in both Veterans for Peace and Iraq Veterans Against the War.

He is breathing on his own and can write some but is having trouble with speech. The parents have asked for no visitors and I'm sure the hospital is getting a ton of calls. This is a tragedy, of that there is no doubt. It does appear that the police are too aggressive here and certainly where some of the fault lies. I say some of the fault because I believe that those individuals who have by verbal comments, payments to demonstrators, encouragements, etc., have now been guilty of inciting a riot, are also guilty of causing this and other problems, like some of the sexual assaults that are not being reported. These people who glamorize this mass of seething anger are equally at fault and legally culpable for inciting to riot. I hope the police are held responsible, but for a brief moment, put yourselves in their shoes and realize how nervous, even frightened that some of these young officers might be in a situation like this. Most are just hopeful they will make it home safely to their wives and kids when their shift is over. They have most likely never been seasoned in a situation like this, are vastly outnumbered and none of them want to be doing this. EQUAL FAULT lies with people like our president, congress woman Pelosi, Celebrities like Michael Moore, Susan Serandon, make believe news commentators like Keith Obamaman and of course the union leaders trying to convert the mixed bag of anger, that we all feel and sympathize with to some degree, to their own personal cause. When the authorities want an area cleared so they can clean the filth and stench created by unruly mobs then it is the mob who is in violation and if they refuse to remove themselves!
