Video - Protesters across the U.S. offer support to Egyptian revolutionaires

Solid take on revolution from the academic who begins at about 40 seconds into the clip.  Text from youtube page...

On Saturday, January 29, 2011, at noon, an "emergency demonstration" was staged in front of the Egyptian Embassy, in Washington, D.C.  It was organized by the ANSWER Coalition and a host of other activist groups in the area.  According to the ANSWER Coalition's press release, the purpose of the rally was to "show solidarity with the Egyptian people" in their struggle to overthrow the "dictatorship of Hosni Mubarak," who has received for decades "$2 billion a year" in U.S. aid to prop up his "corrupt regime."  This video features Brian Becker, National Coordinator of the ANSWER Coalition.

(Reuters) - The United States told Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Saturday it was not enough simply to "reshuffle the deck" with a shake-up of his government and pressed him to make good on his promise of genuine reform.

I'm confused about our Nation's stance on Egypt. Do we really want the stable dictatorship of Egypt to collapse? It didn't work well for Yugoslavia when Tito died. The country fell into civil war resulting in genocide and a terrorist hotbed in Albania. It hasn't worked too well in Iraq, either (...yet). Egypt is one of the nations you haven't heard about contributing to world instability.

Obviously, Obama can't call for Mubarak to step down that would be idiotic. So instead, he says Mubarak must take "real steps". Whatever that means. I'm convinced that Yale and Harvard must have the worst History departments of any university in the world. Bush and Obama have no clue about world affairs. At least they saved Goldman Sachs.

you're right...but i think we realize that mubarek is done...it's not like we could do anything to stabilize the situation anyway...so we are pushing for an orderly transition now as opposed to the chaos you describe with tito and yugoslavia, which was an excellent point...
