When You Control The Debt Of War, The Players Are Mere Pawns

From the 2009 film 'The International' inspired by the BCCI (Bank of Credit and Commerce International) scandal, comes the following truth:

When you control the debt of conflict, you control everything:

  • Calvini: "No, this is not about making profit from weapon sales.  It's about control."
  • Eleanor: "Control the flow of weapons, control the conflict?"
  • Calvini: "No. No No. The IBBC is a bank. Their objective isn't to control the conflict, it's to control the debt that the conflict produces. You see, the real value of a conflict - the true value - is in the debt that it creates. You control the debt, you control everything.  You find this upsetting, yes?  But this is the very essence of the banking industry, to make us all, whether we be nations or individuals, slaves to debt."

You can stop being debt slaves by living humbly within your means.  Walk away from that depreciating house and car and rent or live with relatives, carpool, ride a bicycle, or use public transit.  Eat at home. Pack a sack lunch.  Resist buying next season's fashion.  Cancel the gym and country club memberships, satellite/cable TV, and reduce your mobile rate plan.  Pay off those credit cards and cut them up permanently. Use Credit Unions rather than commercial banks if possible.  Get out and help your neighbor plant and maintain a garden for some temporary peace of mind.  Then we get our local, state, and federal government's houses in order!

Not the best film, but worth a look in its entirety. I have been waiting for what seems like forever for this specific clip to be featured on this site. In a nutshell, this is THE GAME and HOW IT WORKS. No other international bank is any different.

Read up on the BCCI scandal and how deep that Rabbit Hole really went. BOE, BOA, PWC, E&Y, Clark Clifford, Robert Altman, Saddam Hussein, Manuel Noriega, Marc Rich, and even Bill Clinton are all implicated. Both Clifford and Altman walked away without serving a single day in prison or paying any fines. Well done good and faithful servants of international banking. Not content to fund dictators, war criminals, and both sides of any covert war, BCCI allegedly acted as the money-laundering facility of choice for America's finest intelligence agencies, the CIA and FBI. A case study in the military-industrial-intelligence-banking complex.

Bizarrely, Robert Altman went on to become chairman and CEO of ZeniMax Media, parent company of Bethesda Softworks. Bethesda recently purchased the rights to the Fallout video game franchise from defunct Black Isle Studios and developed a well received and commercially successful role playing video game sequel, entitled Fallout 3, in which the United States has been invaded by the Chinese and decimated by nuclear weapons. Foreshadowing? It really is a great video game though.

Spidey is right, The FED can only exist by creating more debt. Deny it its lifeblood. This is why the stimulus has worked the way it has. They are encouraging you to take on more debt.

And to preserve their independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude.
Thomas Jefferson

Debt is the slavery of the free.
Publilius Syrus

Debt is the fatal disease of republics, the first thing and the mightiest to undermine governments and corrupt the people.
Wendell Phillips

Spidey.

Your commentary and transcription has been added to the original post and you have been credited. That was great work.

Your other comment above about the history of BCCI could also have been added to the post, but since it was the 1st comment I felt it would be read by most people anyway..

Nice contributions to the story. Improves the site for everyone.

Great post, Spideydouble, but hard to face. Do you think there is really any hope for regular people or should we just concentrate on staying out of path of destruction? {sigh}

Thanks DB. Sometimes you just need to hear someone say that.

@SNK

Hope starts with you. If you can free yourself from being a debt slave and educate others, that is where the real change begins, not with some politician in Washington.
