Cartoon Of The Day - Manufactured Protest

David Degraw - Amped Status

How Anonymous, AmpedStatus, the NYC General Assembly, US Day of Rage, Adbusters and Thousands of Individual Actions Led to the Occupation of Liberty Park and the Birth of a Movement

As the occupation of Wall Street moves into its third week, there are many questions about the organizers behind the ongoing protests and the origins of the 99% Movement. As one of the many people who actively supported the effort, and helped launch the 99% Movement, I will give my perspective on the events leading up to the occupation of Liberty Park.

Earnings per share for the Standard & Poor’s 500, excluding financial companies, rose 14 percent in the third quarter, the smallest gain since the end of 2009, analysts’ estimates compiled by Bloomberg show. That compares with 19 percent in the second quarter and 20 percent in the first. Analysts have begun reducing forecasts for the current quarter and beyond.

The U.S. has likely dodged a recession for now, even though it’s too early to sound the all- clear for the economy.

A string of stronger-than-projected statistics -- capped by the news on Oct. 7 of a 103,000 rise in payrolls last month -- has prompted economists at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Macroeconomic Advisers LLC to raise their growth forecasts for third quarter growth to 2.5 percent from about 2 percent. That’s nearly double the second quarter’s 1.3 percent rate and would be the fastest growth in a year.

“The U.S. economy doesn’t look like it’s double-dipping at all,” said Allen Sinai, president of Decision Economics Inc. in New York. “But it is a crummy recovery.”

John Hussman: Here Are 4 Things That Every Wall Street Protester Should Know

"Failure" means bondholders shouldn't be guaranteed every penny.
The Federal Reserve's purchases of Fannie and Freddie debt were illegal.
Creating shell companies like Maiden Lane to buy bad Wall Street assets was illegal.
Policies of bailouts only misallocate capital and exacerbate the wealth skew.

Occupy Boston press release.

http://occupyboston.com/2011/10/10/october-10-2011-we-will-occupy/

[snip]

On Monday, October 10, 2011, 10,000 people marched from Boston Common to Dewey Square to the North Washington Bridge in support of Occupy Boston and to demand fundamental and lasting economic and political reform.. At the same time, Occupy Boston expanded to an adjoining section of the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy to accommodate the many hundreds of people who come daily to join the occupation. This peaceful expansion was undertaken to make a place for everyone in our movement.

Note that Fox news said they relocated camp...They didn't. They're expanding.

The Fox News machine goes into spin cycle this am. A female reported was interviewing a very intelligent young man when a car drove by and the driver yelled "get a job". The reporter suddenly turned to the young man and said "did you here that" to which the young man responded " that could have been for you".

The look on her face.....Priceless!

Romney is worth a quarter of a BILLION dollars. That's $250,000,000.00. And he sucks at the crotches of Wall Street cronies, corporations, and banks. He also gives the occasional reach-around to religious nuts. How could anyone like such a bubble headed moron?

Hey, if you are going to pick on Mitt then do it for what he is. There is plenty of material. Don't pick on him because he makes a lot of money. I make a lot of money too and if I can pay zero taxes I will. Take the guy down for real injustices...give me a break!

Den...if you know this site you know I think both taxes and spending are too high, but in the case of multi-millionaires I don't have much sympathy. Once you've got $5 million or so in the bank, you don't need any more help, especially in the form of reduced taxes on capital gains and dividends.
