Don't try this at home. The reason being...

1) 3-D printing is for making masters for casting. Other methods use laser cutters to make the master. The finished product is a plastic and it would be ill advised to shoot something made this way. (The plastic cannot handle the high pressures of a bullet firing).

2) The finished plastic master (in both cases) is then placed into a rubber mold and then pressed into a rubber disk at high temperature in a Vulcanizer, which forms the PATTERN MOLD with which METAL masters are made.

3) The mold is used (generally in a centrifuge) to make METAL COPY of the plastic master.

4) The metal master is then machined, de-burred and polished to make a PRODUCTION MOLD.

5) The production pieces from that mold are then further de-burred/tumbled/ polished/machined to make a finished product.

In my opinion, this is not a good idea.

JOHN

I would never try it at home. I have no interest in building a gun, but your analysis is helpful for those who might be considering it

That is a lot of hardware indeed. No witnesses at all on that one. What a joke.

The federal government has sent a letter to a personal defense advocate demanding he remove the 3D blueprints for a functional homemade gun from his website.
